Ida Kaminska speaks in Yiddish, but in this radio interview her cousin
and the distinguished Yiddish actress Dinah Halpern interprets for her.

Ida Kaminska was in Chicago, as the film she was starring in was opening there in a week.
"The Shop on Main Street," opened  on April 22, 1966 at Chicago's Loop Theatre.

In the film, Ida plays Rozalia Lautmannová, a deaf, Jewish storekeeper in a small Slovakian
town in 1942 that has become occupied by the Nazis. A carpenter (Jozef Kroner)
in this Fascist Slovak State is appointed "Aryan controller" of this Jewish widow's store ...
