Lives in the Yiddish Theatre

SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN THE YIDDISH THEATRE
AS DESCRIBED IN ZALMEN ZYLBERCWEIG'S "LEXICON OF THE YIDDISH THEATRE"

1931-1969

Rukhl Ariel

Rukhl was born on 7 October 1891 in Lodz. Her father was a machine weaver. She learned in a private school.

The actor Shlomo Tsuker took her to Vitebsk as a chorus singer into Genfer's troupe, where she read notes, and after a short time began acting in small roles. From there she traveled to Vilna to Sabsey, where she acted in larger roles. Afterwards she played in the troupes of Kompaneyets, Harlamp-Kanyevska, Fiszon and Krause. In 1921 she went to Constantinople, and from there to Romania, then back to Lodz, where she acted in the local members troupe together with her husband Khayim David Ariel.

According to the "Yizkor-Reshime (Yizkor List)," in the program of the State Yiddish Theatre in Poland, Rukhl was killed by the Nazis.
