SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN THE YIDDISH THEATRE
AS DESCRIBED IN ZALMEN ZYLBERCWEIG'S "LEXICON OF THE YIDDISH THEATRE"

1931-1969



 

Roza Bordo-Antowilska
(Antovil)

B. was born in 1880 in Vilna, Polish Lithuania, into a poor, working family.

Her father was a carpenter.

Having a beautiful voice, she performed as a prima donna in the troupes of Genfer and Lipovski. Later for a year she performed across the cities and towns with Kompaneyets' troupe. Later she acted with Ben-Zion Witler.

In her last years she returned to Vilna, where she lived economically, she used to be sent irregular remittances by Yiddish Actors' Union in Poland.

In 1943 she was killed at the hands of the Nazis.
