Tsvi Hersh Dashevsky

D. was born in 1888 in Yekaterinoslav, Ukraine.

He participated later as an actor in various troupes in Yekaterinoslav, Odessa, and afterwards in Romania.

In 1921 he went from the Ukraine to Poland, and here together with the actor Krantz translated a dramatization of Andreyev's "Zibn gehangene (The Seven Who Were Hanged)" (a tragedy in six scenes [or five scenes], translated and staged, publisher Hirsh Matz, Vilna, 1924), [62 p., 16°], and dramatized Victor Hugo's "Der gibor in keytn (The Hero in Chains)" [Victor Hugo "Der gibor in keytn" "Les Miserables"] a life-drama in six scenes, staged and adapted for the Yiddish stage by H. Dashefsky, publisher Hirsh M"tz, Vilna, 1925, [69 p., 16°], both staged with the publisher, was performed by the troupes of the Central Theatre in Warsaw (Director M. Lipman), "Vikt" and by other troupes.

D. also staged Sholem Aleichem's "Blondzshene shtern", and he also began other dramatic works. From time to time D. also published in Vilna periodical articles about Yiddish theatre.

Due to consumption, D. rarely used to perform as an actor and had later also had to work as a prompter.

On 18 September 1926 D. passed away in the Vilna hospital "Mshmrs hakholim", far from his family.
