where he worked in
Berlin's people's stage (Folksbiene) as an assistant
regisseur under the leadership of A. Feling.
In 1923 he turned up in
Poland, where he guest-starred across the province with
Shoshana and participated in the film "Tkies khaf"
(Scenery -- Kh. Blum, Direction -- Zygmunt Turkow). In
the winter of 1923 T. returned to enter into the Vilna
Troupe, which made guest appearances across Rumania. In
1926 he went entirely with directorial work: He staged
with the Vilna Troupe a revival of Bimko's "Ganovim
(Thieves)" and went to new [oysteytshungen] of
Pirandellos's "Menasha, Khaya, anyeus" and Nikodemus' "Baginen,
tog un nakht" (T.'s translation).
On the way to the Soviet
Union, after acting for six months in France, T. entered
into, in April 1927, the Kharkov Yiddish State Theatre,
where he later acted in the title role of "Shabtai zvi",
and in the role of "Fon vel" in Kushnirov's "Hirsch
Leckert".
In 1929 he became
regisseur-[laboratory worker=labarant] for the same
theatre.
