Ida Kaminska
and the Jewish State Theatre of Poland
Play in New York City, 1967

A Two-Play Repertoire

Ida Kaminska and her troupe from The Jewish State Theatre of Poland played at Manhattan's Billy Rose Theatre, which was located at 208 West 41st Street.

They first played Jacob Gordin's "Mirele Efros," then "Mother Courage" by Bertolt Bracht. They played in the evenings from Tuesday through Saturday and on Sunday afternoon.

The first performance of "Mirele Efros" was on October 19, 1967. "Mirele Efros" played at various times until The Jewish State Theatre of Poland completed its tour of New York City on December 24 of that year.

The first performance of "Mother Courage" was played on November 16. Originally scheduled to begin on October 27, it was delayed due to a dock strike, which delayed the delivery of the necessary scenery.
